THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Fans of La Cocina de Roberto, the well-loved and tucked-away gem located at the intersection of Sawdust Road and Glen Loch Drive, will be happy to learn that the Latin fusion eatery is set to open a second location in December, 2020.

New Restaurant to Open in December 2020

According to owner Roberto Rubio, “The time is right. We wanted to take advantage of this opportunity, even during a crazy year like 2020.”

Rubio and his family have found much success at their original Sawdust Road location, attracting and maintaining loyal customers who crave the restaurant’s fresh flavors and unique presentations of both classic and creative new Latin cuisine.

When the original location opened in 2017, Rubio and his family believed that great food served in a family-oriented environment would be a success. The announcement of the opening of a second location appears to support that idea.

“Yes, it has been wonderful”, reports Rubio, on his restaurant’s success over the past three years. “We’ve gotten to know so many friends and neighbors here in The Woodlands, and people really seem to love our food.”

For fans of the restaurant, the hundred-plus 5-Star Yelp reviews, Houston Press raves, glowing TripAdvisor recommendations, and multiple mentions on Houston area “Best Of” lists are no surprise. Regulars to La Cocina de Roberto keep returning for their favorite dishes, but they also come back for the feeling as well.

“Our motto is ‘Hecho con Amor’”, says restaurant co-owner Claudia Rubio. “Roberto and I really believe that making food with love is the key to our success. Our children and friends work with us, and together we make sure our customers feel something different when they choose our restaurant.”

La Cocina de Roberto’s new location will be at 26817 Interstate 45 North, on the southbound service road just past Woodlands Parkway. The new location will feature ample parking and a pick-up window for fast and easy carryout service.

Both locations will be open six days each week, closed on Sundays. The original Sawdust Road location will continue to offer service to local customers but will also focus on the restaurant’s growing catering and special events business. According to Rubio, “The catering side of our business has really taken off, and it will be great to have additional kitchen space to continue focusing on catering.”

Unlike the original location, the new La Cocina de Roberto on the freeway will offer beer and margaritas and will feature a bar menu and happy hour specials. The restaurant hopes to say “Good morning” to loyal customers through the pick-up window as they head to work, and “Good afternoon” to those who join them for happy hour on their way home at the end of the day.

“Opening a new location is a scary kind of fun,” says Rubio, “but we believe in our brand and we think that when more people get to try our food, they will believe, too.”
