THE WOODLANDS, TX - Woodlands Water will be conducting smoke testing in The Woodlands over the next few weeks, beginning December 2. Notifications will be sent out daily during the testing period, with a map outlining the specific area within which the testing will be conducted.

A sample notification can be seen in the photo gallery attached to this story. Smoke testing is used on sewer lines to locate breaks and defects. During the testing, smoke will exit through ventilation pipes on the roof of homes and sewer line breaks. The smoke is non-toxic, leaves no residue and does not create a fire hazard. Smoke should not enter a home or business, unless defective plumbing exists or drain traps are dry.

In order to prevent the smoke from entering your home or business, it is recommended that you pour a gallon of water in unused drains to fill the drain trap. At no time will field crews have to enter a business or residence.
