MCTX Sheriff Investigates Shooting in New Caney

NEW CANEY, TX -- On December 9, 2020, at about 9:45 PM The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 23700 block of Panky Lane, New Caney, Texas in reference to a Burglary in progress. Upon Deputies arrival the reportee advised he was house-sitting for a friend when he heard loud banging at the back door and he went to check. Upon exiting the home he observed an unlnown male holding a hammer. The male charged him at which time the reportee fired his handgun, striking the deceased in the chest. The reportee advised he then called 911 and waited at the road for police to arrive. Upon arrival, EMS attempted life-saving measures; however, the deceased succumbed to his wounds. The deceased has not been identified at this time and is believed to be a Hispanic male. This is an active investigation and we have no further information to release at this time.
