NEW CANEY, TX -- On March 13, 2024, Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 20300 block of Melba Street, New Caney, Texas, in reference to a Welfare Check. Upon arrival, Deputies learned an eighteen-month-old child was found unresponsive by the mother. MCHD medics responded and determined that the child had overdosed on an unknown substance. The child was transported to a local hospital, where the child received further medical care.

Detectives with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Enforcement Team (MOCONET) responded to the scene. Their investigation resulted in a warrant being issued for the father of the child on Felony Endangering a Child.

The child was later released from the hospital in stable condition and placed into CPS care.

On April 5, 2024, the father, identified as 28-year-old Chase May, was located in Houston, Texas, by MOCONET Detectives. Chase was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail, where he was charged with Endangering a Child and an additional charge of Manufacturing and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
