Governor Abbott Appoints McClure To Court Of Criminal Appeals

AUSTIN, TX -- Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Jesse McClure, III as a Judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals, effective January 1, 2021, for a term set to expire on December 31, 2022, or until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified.

Jesse McClure, III of Kingwood has served as Judge of the 339th Judicial District Court in Harris County since November 2019. He previously served as a prosecutor for the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI), assigned to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office as a special assistant district attorney. Prior to his service at TDI, he was an attorney for the Department of Homeland Security, and an assistant district attorney for the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Additionally, he is a Deacon at Second Baptist Church, a leader in Bible Study Fellowship, and a volunteer for the Deerwood Elementary PTA. He is also a former member of the UTHealth Nurse Anesthesia Division Advisory Board. McClure received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Texas School of Law.
