CONROE, TX - In a COVID world we are used to being secluded in our safe homes secure from danger with our family we love. After working all day, going to school, or doing what we enjoy, it is nice to come home to the place we call home. Not everyone in our community has that advantage and as a community we are learning more and more about the importance of home.

Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County (Habitat MCTX) invites the community to join them for a Virtual Wine tasting event with legendary wine maker and owner of Neyers Vineyards, Bruce Neyers, at 7:00pm on Thursday, January 21st . Participants will learn about the taste of Neyers Vineyards as Bruce takes them through a tasting of Carneros Chardonnay, Sage Canyon Red a Rhone Varietal, and Left Bank Red Blend a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Each tickets purchased includes a bottle of the sampling wines and a charcuterie board from CRÚ Food & Wine Bar of The Woodlands Tickets can be purchased at this link: http://bit.ly/2MB5YJD.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information to pick up the wine and charcuterie board and a link to the wine tasting event. Participants will have the opportunity to pick up their items on January 20th or January 21st at CRÚ ’Food & Wine Bar. Proceeds from the event will benefit Habitat MCTX and their mission to build safe, decent, affordable homes for families in our community.

Your participation in this fun event will contribute to making the dream of homeownership a reality for a family in need.

We are all ready for a reset button. Montgomery County is a very giving community that supports the vulnerable populations when they know what is needed. Consider having a family and close friends wine tasting event in collaboration with Habitat MCTX to benefit the families in our community with a safe place to call HOME.

“Nothing says home like friends and families getting together to share laughter over good food, wine, and for a good cause”, stated Vicki Johnson, Executive Director for Habitat for Humanity Montgomery County. “We are so grateful for our friends at Neyers Vineyards and CRÚ Food & Wine Bar for providing this elaborate tasting mixed with generosity. We hope that the community will experience the virtual fun on January 21 to help Habitat build and repair homes”.

Jada England, a Habitat MCTX volunteer for the Building Hope Gala committee has coordinated the virtual wine event with the support of n2 Publishing and Woodlands Online. “I love working with Habitat MCTX”, said Jada. “I also love food and wine, so by creating the virtual wine tasting event to benefit Habitat seemed fitting. CRÚ Food & Wine Bar is a wonderful community partner, and my hope is that by bringing them both together it will help to build homes for those who need it most”.

Although the pandemic restrictions slowed down the building process at the 100% Habitat community in 2020, construction is moving forward. Volunteers + donations are needed to help Habitat MCTX stay on schedule for completion. The cost to lay a Habitat house foundation is approximately $10,000 while the cost to provide doorknobs throughout the house is $50. Every donation counts! Volunteers can sign up to work alongside professional contractors to build the home with step-by-step supervision as a group with coworkers or part of an organization, or alternatively on your own as an individual. Construction volunteers work alongside the family that will soon call the house “home”. Learn more about volunteering at www.habitatmctx.org/get-involved/volunteer-as-a-group.

Don’t feel called to swing a hammer? Volunteers are a valuable component of the ReStore in Conroe on a weekly or monthly basis. Located at 9407 Hwy 242 in Conroe, all proceeds from sales or donations benefit Habitat for Humanity to build homes and hope in the community.

Since 1989, Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, TX has worked with the loving hands of volunteers and donors to improve the lives of families and individuals through affordable homeownership. Habitat MCTX volunteers build strength, stability, and self reliance through shelter. Volunteers and donors build the hope.
