April 29 Kendra Scott Give Back Event to Benefit a Shelter for Cancer Families

HOUSTON, TX - Kendra Scott is supporting A Shelter For Cancer Families (ASCF) mission to offer free short-term housing and tangible support in the Texas Medical Center to families affected by cancer through a give back event 5-7 p.m. April 29 at the jeweler’s seven Houston-area locations.

During the event, 20 percent of every purchase made will benefit A Shelter for Cancer Families when the give back event is mentioned. Those shopping online April 29 and 30 can use code GIVEBACK -1EJ0 at checkout to have 20 percent of the purchase price benefit the charity.

“We are so grateful to have the support of retailers like Kendra Scott who so generously give back to their community,” said Monica Agostinelli, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of ASCF. “With Mother’s Day and Nurses Appreciation Week coming up, this is the perfect time to get something for that special someone while supporting an important cause.”

Agostinelli said the event is inspired by and hosted in memory of Erica Nowell, a Katy native and mother of three who worked as a nurse at MD Anderson. Nowell, who was an active ASCF volunteer, lost her battle with cancer last August.

A Shelter for Cancer Families provides housing for out-of-town families seeking cancer care at the Texas Medical Center, as well as helping families affected by cancer navigate the cancer treatment process, serving as a liaison between the patient and caregiver, explaining options and providing other resources and aid. It was the vision of Tom Amschwand after he was diagnosed with sarcoma.
