THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack’s Mosquito Abatement team was alerted by the Texas Department of State Health Services of two additional West Nile virus positive mosquito samples on Friday, bringing the total number of positive samples for the season to four.

The two positive mosquito samples, both picked up in traps set by the Precinct 3 Mosquito Abatement team, were located in 77380 and 77386.

Spraying is set to begin tonight in the areas where the positive samples were obtained. Treatment includes spraying all streets and county rights of way within the affected areas twice in one week. The second scheduled treatment, weather permitting, is set for Tuesday.

Residents can check the treatment activity map (http://www.precinct3.org/mosquito-abatement/) to learn when spraying will occur in their neighborhoods.

Residents are advised to avoid outdoor activity during the scheduled treatment hours. Personal protective measures, such as insect repellent, wearing long, light loose clothing, eliminating standing water, also should be taken.

For residents who would like assistance identifying mosquito breeding sites in their drainage ditches or in the county right of way near their home, call 281-364-4203 to set up an appointment. Our teams can provide customized advice on how to deal with these issues.

We urge residents to take precautions while outdoors and think WET.

Remember to Think WET!
