Take In The Superlative Sounds of Scott Mulvahill at Dosey Doe Big Barn, Aug 27

THE WOODLANDS, TX - Scott Mulvahill is bringing his unique blend of Jazz, Roots, Blues and Pop music style to Dosey Doe Big Barn on August 27. He is a signer/songwriter and standup bass player. He has played with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder as well as Bruce Hornsby and Lauren Daigle. His music is exceptionally unique. August 27th will showcase one of the most talented musicians in the country and will bring back to Houston one of its own.

Early years
Scott was born and raised in Houston, Texas. As a teenager, Scott experienced and enjoyed life as a typical teenager, with the various activities that many teenager’s pursue like soccer and skateboarding. He never thought as a teenager that he would enjoy playing bass, but that would soon change. His parents had various albums in the house and his influences spanned various genres, including Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Simon and Garfunkel, but he mentioned one artist specifically and one album in particular that influenced him the most. Scott said that he loved Paul Simon’s “Graceland”. It was an amazing album that incorporated a great deal of bass and spoke to Scott’s soul like no other album could at the time. He knew at the age of 14 that he wanted to focus on music, songwriting and bass playing in particular. With the encouragement of a music teacher, he pursued music in college and then after school, headed to Nashville with his talent to play, sing and write in pursuit of his career.
Scott was introduced to various groups in the music industry while in Nashville and based to his talent as a bass player was invited to play with Ricky Skaggs’s band called Kentucky Thunder. Scott toured with Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder for 5 years as their bass player. He also played with Bruce Hornsby. In 2017 he started working on his new solo album called “Himalayas”. “Encouraged by musical mentor Bruce Hornsby, Mulvahill developed a unique approach to his songwriting — one that mixed his chops as an upright bassist with hook-heavy melodies and compelling narratives. Himalayas spotlights that distinctive style.” Scott has continued his solo career and has has toured the country performing his unique style of music. He has recently opened for Lauren Daigle during her “Look Up Child Tour”.
What to expect at the August 27 Dosey Doe Concert
Scott will be performing songs from his Himalayas album and most recent EPs Creative Potential and Surrounded, as well as some tunes he did with Ricky Skaggs, and a few covers. He will also have various merchandise for guests to purchase at the concert. The concert will be a great experience to listen to one of the most unique musical artists in the country and the Dosey Doe venue is an excellent way to experience Scott Mulvahill up close and personal.
About Dosey Doe
This 165 year old historical structure has been saved for its current purpose. Originally built as a tobacco barn in Kentucky, the 300-600 year old growth oak and birch massive beams are the foundation not only for a beautiful room for also for great acoustics. It is a place where memories are made. No need to run from restaurant to music hall, as here you have it all.
Their entrees are 'cooked from scratch' based on the season, special offerings of purveyors with the type of music of the night in mind. Their task is to offer a meal that would be the reason in and of itself to visit Dosey Doe. The presentation is note worthy and the creations are featured in several Cook Books from Canada to Texas.
Nationally recognized artists from around the world dominate the calendar here: from Jerry Jeff Walker to The Rippingtons, Dave Mason to Lee Roy Parnell, Clint Black to Bela Fleck, Leon Russell to Spyro Gyra, Steve Wariner to Hayes Carll, Roger Creager to Mel Tillis, Manhattan Transfer to Gallagher... up very close and personal. Most artists will stay to have photos taken and give autographs after the show. Many very rarely do it anywhere but here and almost everyone says it is one of their favorite rooms to play.

The BIG BARN is home to great causes such as RETT and SWING FOR A CURE; benefits where proceeds go to help children's illnesses. The BIG BARN is available for large wedding receptions, corporate functions, birthdays and anniversary parties.
