Lone Star College named 2021 Great Colleges to Work For®

HOUSTON, TX -- Lone Star College was named a 2021 Great Colleges to Work For® institution by the Chronicle of Higher Education. This is the eighth year LSC has been recognized and the fifth year achieving honor roll status.

“This acknowledgement is extra special given the extraordinary challenges our faculty and staff faced over the last year,” said Stephen C. Head, Ph.D., LSC chancellor. “Our students benefited from the incredible dedication of our employees and I am extremely grateful for their efforts in our mission toward student success.”

LSC was also recognized with the Honor Roll distinction. Honor Roll status is given to institutions that were cited most often in each size category.

“It takes courage to lead and the 2021 Great Colleges to Work For® participants demonstrated remarkable courage, commitment and optimism in their decisions to participate in a ‘great place to work program’ in the midst of a worldwide pandemic,” said Richard K. Boyer, principal and managing partner at ModernThink. “There’s much to learn from these remarkable institutions and their inspirational leaders.”

LSC was recognized in all 10 categories for two-year institutions:

In all, 196 schools participated in 2021, including 120 four-year universities and 76 two-year colleges. 70 schools were recognized as a 2021 Great College to Work For®, including 46 four-year universities and 24 two-year colleges. In addition, 42 schools are on the Honor Roll, recognized as standouts in their size categories.

“Lone Star College students can be confident that the education they receive comes from professors and staff committed to their success,” said Head.

ModernThink Higher Education Insight Survey© was updated for the 2021 program with 11 new survey statements and four new survey dimensions, including Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging; Faculty & Staff Well-being; Mission & Pride; and Performance Management.

The Chronicle of Higher Education, in partnership with ModernThink LLC, gathers data directly from employees about what makes their institution a great place to work. The data collected provides senior-level administrators and academic leaders with insights on the quality of the workplace experience and the competitiveness of their policies and benefits.
