Lone Star College System celebrates graduates at annual commencement ceremonies

THE WOODLANDS, TX – Lone Star College System held graduation celebrations May 8-10 for an estimated 13,000 students and certificate recipients who have completed or are finalizing degrees and certificates during the 2024–2025 academic year.
“Commencement is a special time of year for Lone Star College System students to celebrate their well-deserved achievement, whether they earned a bachelor’s or associate degree, a certification or a GED,” said Gerald F. Napoles, Ph.D., LSC vice chancellor, Student Success. “Lone Star College System is extremely proud of this year’s graduates and is excited to watch their continued success.”
Notable events from this year’s commencement ceremonies include:
- More than 70 Spanish-speaking graduates and their families participated in the second Spanish Language Commencement ceremony.
- There were a total of 1,485 dual credit (962) and early college high school (523) students who graduated from LSCS weeks before earning their high school diplomas.
- Commencement is also a personal celebration for many students like Talin Cuasto, family nurse practitioner, who started her LSC journey with a nine-month-old baby on her hip; Tonia Cansler Meredith, oral historian, who was escorted across campus by her daughter (an LSC graduate); and Giovanni Salazar, a veteran, who bravely shifted gears from the military to pursue a career as a history professor.
“Choosing Lone Star College meant betting on myself and believing in what I can become,” said Bethany Lasco, LSC-Montgomery Class of 2025 alumna. “My experience at Lone Star College and the Honors International Education program has transformed my life. There, I discovered my love for research and found a platform to share my passion for education.”
