Application Process for Harris County’s Small Business Relief Fund Begins Today
HOUSTON, TX -- Eligible small and micro businesses can apply for grants between $5,000 and $25,000
WHO: Harris County has approved the $30 million Small Business Relief Fund to support small and micro businesses who have experienced economic setbacks due to the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact since the spring of 2020.
WHAT: The Small Business Relief Fund was created with funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and is being administered on behalf of Harris County by LiftFund, a nonprofit community development financial institution.
WHY: Many small and historically disadvantaged businesses — including Minority- and Women-Owned Businesses (MWBEs) — have struggled to keep their doors open during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Small Business Relief Fund offers these businesses a chance to overcome barriers they typically face in seeking access to capital. The $30 million fund is a continuation of Harris County’s financial support to small businesses reeling from the pandemic’s economic impact. Since the beginning of the pandemic, Harris County has provided micro and small businesses with $40 million in aid.
WHEN: Small Business Relief Fund applications will be accepted online for two weeks beginning Monday, September 20 through Monday, October 4. Visit www.harriscountybusinessrelief.org for eligibility guidelines, required documentation and other information.
