THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Woodforest is launching a seven-week campaign to collect donations for seven Montgomery County charities.

The Giving Tree initiative starts today and continues through Dec. 17. During that time, people can drop off items to be donated at The Palm Information Center, 251 Central Pine Street. Woodforest will donate $100 to the charity for each box filled.

“With the holidays approaching, we never want to see anyone go without,” said Woodforest Marketing Director Faith Pitman. “While we have always collected toys for Toys for Tots, we thought we would expand our efforts this year to support more charities — many who have seen donations decline during the pandemic. We picked a variety of causes hoping to resonate with as many people as possible.”

The seven charities include:

Journey Home
A haven for expectant mothers, providing housing, spiritual encouragement and practical support.

Meals on Wheels Montgomery County
Meals on Wheels helps more than 580 homebound seniors in Montgomery County to remain in their homes by providing nearly 300,000 meals and nearly 15,000 rides annually.

Montgomery County Women’s Shelter
A local organization working to prevent domestic violence and sexual assault that receives 2,000 hotline calls each month and fills 75 beds nearly every night.

Operation Pets Alive
A non-profit, all-volunteer organization striving to elevate Montgomery County to a no-kill community.

Patriots of Texas
Offers “boots on the ground” assistance to local veterans and first responders in need.

Toys for Tots
Delivered 30,716 toys to 8,213 less fortunate children in the local region last year.
Requested items: New, unwrapped toys for children up to age 12.

Wrapped in Warmth
A drive to collect gently used coats and gloves for the Community Assistance Center of Montgomery County, which serves local residents suffering financial hardship.

Details of the charities’ most-needed items can be found on the campaign website, www.WoodforestTX.com/TheGivingTree. Monetary donations can also be made via the website and people can watch the box count to see how much Woodforest is donating to each charity.

Woodforest is located five miles north of The Woodlands. A dozen builders offer homes in Woodforest priced from the $260,000s to more than $1 million. Learn more at www.woodforesttx.com.
