Volunteers of The Woodlands Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. hold 30-year Tradition of Serving Seniors

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- ‘Tis the season for giving! The Woodlands Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., kicked off the giving season by upholding its 30-year tradition of serving seniors in Montgomery County. On the eve of Thanksgiving, The Woodlands Chapter members take over the delivery routes for Meals on Wheels employees and drivers. This gift of time allows Meals on Wheels employees and drivers to prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday with their loved ones and serves as a token of thankfulness for their faithful efforts to Montgomery County and its residents throughout the entire year.

Despite a brief hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, The Woodlands Chapter of Jack and Jill of America eagerly resumed this tradition with safety protocols in place such as mask wearing and social distancing where possible.

Up to 150 Woodlands Chapter members, including parents and children, placed coolers in vehicles and delivered more than 300 meals to local residents. This act of giving ensured that needy seniors in Montgomery County would enjoy their Thanksgiving holiday with nutritious meals delivered with love, care and inspirational messages. Each delivered meal included hot food entrees and sides ready to eat and frozen meals that would sustain the clients throughout the Thanksgiving holiday and weekend. Chapter members also prepared decorative and festive placemats, breakfast bags as well as inspirational handmade cards reflecting the love and commitment that the chapter has for the community.
Jack and Jill of America, Inc., was founded in 1938 as an African-American membership organization of mothers who nurture future leaders by strengthening children ages two to 19 through educational enrichment programming, community service, legislative advocacy, and philanthropic giving. As a nationwide organization with more than 252 chapters in seven geographic regions encompassing 35 states and the District of Columbia, membership is via legacy or invitation only.

The Woodlands Chapter is dedicated to building future African-American leaders with an emphasis on the importance of family, black history, community service, legislative advocacy, and philanthropic giving. We seek for ALL children the same advantages we desire for our own and we believe that every child, with proper guidance and opportunity, can be a LEADER.

The Woodlands Chapter looks forward to continuing its legacy of community service in the Montgomery County.
