THE WOODLANDS, TX – Quote of the week: “January is the calendar’s ingrown hair.” – Stewart Stafford

Countering the cold weather with some hot events!

It’s already the last full week of January! Time flies when you’re having fun, and there’s definitely lots of fun to be had. Here’s our pick of the top five things to do in The Woodlands this special week:

Tuesday, January 25
Erin Go Bragh! It’s Irish Coffee Day, and Fielding’s Local Kitchen & Bar is offering not one, not two, but THREE Irish Coffees designed to keep out the winter chill and inspire you to kiss the Blarney Stone. Of course, we here at Woodlands Online encourage anyone who may overimbibe to take the trolley or an Uber home.

If you’ve ever wondered why the band calls themselves Jethro Tull when none of the band members is actually named that, you need look no further than the 18th-century British agriculturalist of the same name. With that piece of trivia out of the way, it’s time to grab your flutes and head out to Dosey Doe - The Big Barn, where Jethro Tull’s (the band, not the plant guy) own Martin Barre will regale you with 50 years of Tull music.

Alcohol mixed with the hurling of sharp weapons… what could go wrong? Actually, fun and safety go hand in hand at Texas Axe Throwing for their Wine Down Wednesday. Only $4 per glass of wine (with bottle specials) and a great way to channel aggression and hone your skills. This sport is gaining such popularity that there are even local leagues forming!

Friday, January 28
The Woodlands Township is hosting one heck of a cute date night - a Mother/Son Prom Night for all ages! Moms, put on your “virgin cocktail” best and grab your young sons and head out to the Recreation Center at Rob Fleming Park for an evening of wine, dinner, and dancing (well, more “juice” than wine and more “snacks” than dinner, but still lots of dancing… and a TON of fun!).

Sunday, January 30
Dosey Doe's Big Barn is hosting a fun-filled fundraiser on behalf of Baseball for Babies, a nonprofit organization that centers around premature babies. Grab your boots and stetsons and head out there for the 'Boots & Babies Gala' featuring Scooter Brown Band, silent and live auctions, and special appearances by baseball celebrities, including Lance Berkman and Anthony Rendon!
