Mother / Daughter duos gather for Texas Poppies NCL Chapter Kickoff
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Texas Poppies NCL Chapter is an organization dedicated to fostering the bond between mothers and daughters through philanthropic service, leadership development, and cultural experiences. Its members serve local philanthropy partners in the community, carrying forward NCL's mission of mothers and daughters serving together while empowering young women to become compassionate and engaged leaders. The NCL year follows the school year, so when it’s back to school, it is also back to serving for the Texas Poppies NCL Chapter!
Throughout the upcoming year, mother-daughter members of the Texas Poppies will volunteer and put their time and talents towards causes that make a meaningful difference in the Montgomery, Conroe, Tomball, Magnolia, Waller, and The Woodlands areas. The chapter will serve alongside organizations including Sleep In Heavenly Peace, Montgomery Community Assistance Center, Interfaith of The Woodlands, and many other local non-profits.
For the 2026-2027 NCL year, the Texas Poppies have set an ambitious goal of completing 3,655 mother-daughter volunteer hours. Each hour represents more than time donated – it represents mothers and daughters working side-by-side, building relationships, serving neighbors, and creating a stronger community together. Texas Poppies NCL Chapter President, Lea Bodie, captured the spirit of the year ahead with a simple call to action: “Say yes to something new and find ways to serve together. Show up, jump in, and let’s make an impact!”
In addition to ongoing volunteer opportunities, the Texas Poppies have several events planned for the Fall. One of the chapter’s upcoming highlights is it’s October Holiday Fair, which will bring members together in support of the philanthropic events while celebrating the warmth of the holiday season.
As the 2026-2027 year gets underway, the Texas Poppies look forward to another year of service, leadership, philanthropy, and sisterhood, demonstrating that when mothers and daughters work together, their collective impact can reach far beyond the hours they volunteer.
