THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Rothco Tree Service is a local, family-owned company that takes great pride and pleasure in all that it does for the people in their community. They are committed to bringing their clients outstanding customer service and a job worthy of neighborhood envy for each and every property they take on. Specializing in tree trimming, tree removal, stump grinding, pruning, treating tree diseases and other issues, underbrush removal, and emergency services, they don’t compromise the quality of their work.

We sat down with Justin Roth, estimator and co-owner at Rothco to ask him about his company’s contribution to The Woodlands community. Rothco was founded in 2010 by brothers Matthew and Justin Roth and has grown into one of the most trusted tree service companies in The Woodlands. Rothco was voted as a Best of The Woodlands - Best Tree Services winner for the last few years, most recently in 2021. They pride themselves on providing quality work, displaying professionalism, and caring about the needs of their clients. It's no wonder why The Woodlands residents consider them a great company to use.

Matthew Roth worked in the tree services industry for many years prior to starting Rothco, and decided in early 2010 to start his own tree service company in Montgomery County. Justin was just finishing up college at the time with a degree in biology and came onboard as co-owner of Rothco later that year. Matthew and Justin have taken a small operation with mostly contract staff and turned that into a thriving tree service provider with several full-time employees.

We asked Justin what it was like to start a new tree service company. Although Matthew had extensive experience providing tree services and managing crews, Justin was new to this industry and started as a groundsman hauling logs, raking and doing a little bit of rope work. He loaded and drove trucks as he and his brother were building their company. Over the years, Justin has switched from doing ground work to providing estimation, client support and financial/accounting work.

During the 'off-season' parts of the year, Rothco normally runs with two crews, and increases that to three or four crews during peak months. They take their service to the community very serious and everything from training, insurance and customer service is met with great care and consideration. Like with many service industries, there are always fly-by-night firms that are underinsured, undertrained, and understaffed that take on projects while providing subpar services. You should always be vigilance in determining who you will use for important tree services. Justin mentioned that it is important to know who you are using. Check their insurance and make sure they have enough insurance to cover damages that they may cause.

Rothco provides residential and commercial tree services and also works with the county and city groups with clearing trees in public areas. They work great with HOA and Village Association groups to help you with paperwork when approval is needed before trees can be removed in subdivisions. They can submit paperwork for you and in the cases where the owner is required to submit that paperwork themselves, Rothco can also help walk you through the paperwork process to get your project approved and the trees removed in a timely and cost-effective manner.

We asked Justin how much the average tree costs to remove. He said that it depends on the size and location of tree, but he says that the average cost to remove a tree is around $400-$800 per tree. They not only work with your HOA to remove your trees, but they also can grind the stump and can remove the debris, which is ground into mulch and redistributed into the local economy.

Justin said that they do not charge to come out and give an estimate to cut down trees, so give them a call today at 832-257-0190 to look at your trees. In addition to removal services, they also provide tree healthcare. If you want to keep your tree but just need some help with treating it, Rothco can help with that as well. They offer diagnostic testing for trees, soil, leaf, and root diseases, sprays and injections, root barrier installation and transplanting.
