THE WOODLANDS, TX –- Since President’s Day was Monday, all games in the area were played on Tuesday in a stacked 1st Round Boys playoff bracket. The Woodlands faced Spring, Conroe faced 4th in Texas Westfield, Grand Oaks played Nimitz and College Park went up against Aldine Eisenhower.

For the first time all season, College Park faced a team tough enough to make them earn a win and move on to the next round. The first quarter was slow and seemed like College Park needed to warm up longer to get into the game. Eisenhower came off strong, double teaming vital College Park players forcing bad shots and many turnovers. As the half continued, College Park turned up the heat and started moving the ball and making shots. By halftime College Park had an 11-point lead against Eisenhower, 27-16.

In the 3rd quarter Eisenhower kicked back and crashed the boards, forcing turnovers and dominating the midrange. They finally heated up and challenged College Park by closing the lead to just 4 points.

In the final minutes of this nail-biter, College Park found themselves facing a single possession game. Head Coach McNeely strategically forced the foul so that they can advance the ball up court to give them a chance to make it a 2-possession game once again. In a stroke of luck, Eisenhower missed their opportunity to get closer and in return sent College Park to the line which secured their spot in Round 2 of the playoffs.
