Stephens is another key pass catcher in the flats who needs to get going quickly in this game, as the shifty RB can open games up if given space. Booker has shown multiple times that he doesn’t need open space, as his physical style creates fantastic synergy in the run game. The part of the offense we want to see improve is the offensive line, as they were pushed around badly last week, and that kind of stuff won’t fly against a team like King. If they can improve a bit in the trenches from last week, expect this offense to be rolling.

In last week's game, the defense struggled down the stretch and gave up critical scores late. The problem wasn’t up front, as DEs RJ Wyms and Jordyn Grant applied excellent pressure all night, and LB Lucas Richard was solid at the 2nd level in tackling. The main problem was the scheme the Cavaliers ran, as Cy-Fair hit several wide-open throws to pick up key yardage. Watching some of the film back, the DBs looked lost on a lot of assignments, and there was confusion between the LBs and DBs on several occasions, leading to those big passing plays.

The Cavaliers will have to figure this coverage problem out ahead of this game, as King has some of the best WRs not just in Texas, but in the nation. If the defense can get back into form, we expect them to compete, but they have a lot to prove on Friday.

C.E. King Panthers: Speed Is The Name Of The Game

Coming into the season, many outlets viewed the C.E. King Panthers as one of Texas's best teams, with many saying they were now one of the top dogs in the Houston area. They play in an incredibly tough District, competing each year with titans of high school football like North Shore, Summer Creek, and Atascocita. They finished last season as the state title runner-up, only falling to a dominant DeSoto team that took down the Cavaliers and Willis in earlier rounds. The main reason for the hype is the speed on their roster, with some of the state's best athletes playing for them each week. However, the hype may have gotten to them last week, as they fell to the Cy-Ranch Mustangs 31-28 in an upset mirroring what the Cavaliers faced.

Headlining the team is junior athlete Dillon Mitchell, who has world-class speed and is widely regarded as one of the sport's best up-and-comers. Mitchell is well known for his track exploits, including the 2026 6A state 100m title (wind-assisted 9.92 seconds) and a gold medal in the 4x100m relay at the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships, where his team set a new U20 world record of 38.16 seconds. He also holds the U18 world best in the 60m, with a blazing 6.59 seconds, and is the fifth-fastest U18 runner in history, with a wind-legal 10.10 seconds in April. All this to say, Mitchell is extremely dangerous, and while the football field is different from a track, that speed will be a major threat to this Cavalier defense.
