HOUSTON, TX -- More big donations came from donors as the top lots were sold at the 2022 Junior Market Poultry Show.

Exhibitor Kenna Schram, from Sealy FFA, reaped the reward of her hard work, as her Grand Champion Pen of Broilers sold for $200,000 to Roger Camp, Becky and Kelly Joy, Julie and Alan Kent, and Gregory Miller.

The Grand Champion Turkey, shown by Colson Mooney, from Guadalupe County 4-H, sold for a Rodeo record of $195,000 to Sherry and Connard Barker, Bridgette and John Grimes, Bobby and Robert Shockley, and Sheri and Rob Walker.

“Colson, big things are ahead of you,” said the buyers.

The Reserve Grand Champion Pen of Broilers, shown by Jalee Baumann, from Snook FFA, sold for $145,000 to Judy and Tyson Kennedy, Debbie Adams and Ron Logan, Kathleen and Tom Mach, and Shirley and Randy Meyer.

Jalee fought to earn the reserve champion spot after having a rough start at the beginning of the show.

“I was in the second to last callback and had to work my way up,” said Jalee.

The Reserve Grand Champion Turkey, shown by Reide Reininger, from Guadalupe County 4-H, sold for $120,000 to Meredith and Patrick Chastang, Heather and Sean Congdon, Robin Young-Ellis and Joe Ellis, and Cheryl and Barry Heaton.

“Everybody has an opportunity,” said Sean Congdon. “You just have to do something.”

The Poultry Auction Committee was full of cheerful shouts as the exhibitors saw their hard work pay off before their eyes.
