Magnolia ISD has been awarded $289,000 that will be utilized over the next two years

MAGNOLIA, TX -- Magnolia ISD is proud to be one of the recipients of the Texas Education Agency’s Dyslexia Grant. This was a competitive grant program that was passed by the 87th Texas Legislature and aims to increase a school districts’ capacity to appropriately serve students with dyslexia and related disorders.

Magnolia ISD was awarded $289,000 that will be utilized over the next two years in the following areas:

• Provide high-quality training to classroom teachers, special education teachers, dyslexia teachers, bi-lingual dyslexia teachers, and administrators in meeting the needs of students with dyslexia.

• Provide training to dyslexia intervention staff resulting in national credentialing related to dyslexia.

• Purchase new curriculum and materials for our general education, special education, and bilingual students with dyslexia.

• Hire a District-Wide Dyslexia Interventionist to assist with training and support campus dyslexia teachers.

“This grant will allow the MISD dyslexia department to cultivate into one of the most impactful and innovative in the state. I am beyond excited to see the overall impact this grant will have on our students with dyslexia,” stated Sarah Harcrow, Dyslexia Program Specialist.


This grant will not only impact the 1,300 Magnolia ISD students already identified with dyslexia but also any students that are identified in the future.
