THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Woodlands Symphony is bringing together one supernova-sized concert this Sunday evening, May 1, starting at 6:00 p.m. at The Woodlands Methodist Church – ‘Out of This World: A Sci-Fi and Outer Space-Inspired Soundtrack.’

A live concert featuring some of the best space-related music just for you

Artistic Director Darryl Bayer has dreamt of this concert for a long while now. “The soundtracks and scores of many science fiction films have become so popular and so ubiquitous,” he said. “Not only for nerds like myself, but also for the casual moviegoer, oftentimes the opening theme of a movie will stir memories and emotions.” It’s no coincidence that National Film Score Day occurred earlier this month.

Reaching a diverse multi-generational audience is the primary mission of The Woodlands Symphony. The orchestra is dedicated to performing concerts that appeal to Gen-X, Millennial, and Baby Boomer music enthusiasts alike. Enhanced with video images from NASA and Hubble Telescope, the concert opens with classical music from the movie 2001 A Space Odyssey and transports you through the galaxy with excerpts from The Planets, E.T, Superman, Apollo 13, Star Trek, Star Wars, and more mega hits.

“The Out of this World program has been generously underwritten by Annette and Ken Hallock, and The Woodlands Symphony 2022 season is funded in part by The Howard Hughes Corporation,” said Bayer. Additionally, Woodlands Online will be at the concert to provide livestreaming for those who can’t make it in person, although Bayer strongly encourages a live audience. “Nothing beats hearing the music unfiltered without electronic speakers and seeing the musicians who make that music come to life.”

The Woodlands United Methodist Church is located at 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive in The Woodlands, Texas. Doors open 5:30 p.m.
