THE WOODLANDS, TX – Quote of the week: “The quality of a father can be seen in the goals, dreams, and aspirations he sets, not only for himself, but for his family.” – Reed Markham

It’s our last full week before summer officially commences AND it’s also Father’s Day this weekend. Here’s a sampling of what’s going on this week in The Woodlands

Monday - Sunday, June 13 - 19
It’s no secret – nor surprise – that Father’s Day isn’t quite the flowers-and-cards holiday that Mother’s Day enjoys each year. However, we here at Woodlands Online feel that dads should get their due. We present our annual Father’s Day Guide, an online resource for families to peruse for gifts and celebratory events for the Main Guy in their lives. No longer does he have to put on a brave and thankful façade as you deliver yet another necktie; our Guide is replete with eateries, events, special deals, and heartfelt gift ideas designed to bring an unfeigned smile to his face.

The Woodlands Arts Council puts on a regular event called ARTFEEL that showcases a local piece of art or talent and then invites special guests and the general public to express its impact on their lives and the world in general. It’s an amazing artistic event, and tonight it will be honoring Alex Katz’s Flowers mural in Waterway Square. Floral attire is encouraged, but not required at this special Artfeel. A gift from The Howard Hughes Corporation to The Woodlands residents and visitors, the Flowers mural is 35,000 square feet in size, making it one of the largest murals in the country. The Woodlands Children’s Museum is generously offering many fun activities for families including a crazy flower hat making area and a photo op booth for colorful, flower themed selfies.
