Lone Star College meets the needs of high-achieving students

“I became interested in Lone Star College because of the idea that a community college had a place for everyone regardless of their background,” said Vincenzo De Vita Sifontes, LSC-CyFair Honors College graduate. “The college opens itself for those who are looking for growth.”

The Honors College at LSC offers a rigorous curriculum, robust learning environment and various opportunities for leadership development. De Vita Sifontes graduated with Honors College Chancellor’s Fellow and Honors College Leadership Track distinction.

“Being involved in the Honors College, I developed academic and professional soft skills that I will utilize in communication and organization while continuing my education and later in the work field,” said De Vita Sifontes. “The skills I learned have helped me to understand the kind of research I enjoy and has solidified my academic interests.”

De Vita Sifontes was accepted to participate in the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates at Rice University program with his project titled “Planetary Habitability Over Space and Time.”

LSC Honors College students are encouraged to develop projects and coursework based on their own interests and career goals. They develop analytical, communication and leadership skills that help them succeed no matter which future academic or professional career they choose.

De Vita Sifontes is planning to attend the University of Houston and intends to work for an international engineering firm and work as a project designer or a data analyst that focuses on transportation and structures with the goal of creating infrastructure that will rely on human safety.
