MCTX Sheriff Partners with Canopy in the Fight against Breast Cancer

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Breast Cancer Awareness Month began on October 1st and runs through October 31st. Sheriff Rand Henderson and members of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office will proudly show our support for breast cancer survivors and the fighters of the disease by wearing pink badges and T-shirts during October. The pink badges and shirts were paid for personally by the Sheriff’s Office employee who wears the badge or shirt for a loved one who has battled or is currently battling breast cancer.

By doing this, not only can we show our support, but we can make a donation that will directly help someone in need. A portion of the proceeds from the badges and shirts will be given to Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center, a caring community of hope, healing, and empowerment. Canopy “enhances the quality of life for individuals affected by cancer and for those who support them during their journeys.”

For some of our employees, this battle can be a personal one. Breast cancer has attacked them, a sister, a mother, an aunt, a grandmother, or a dear friend. When you see the outward display of support by our men and women, know “compassion” is one of the core values that we strive for every day. At the end of the month, some of our employees will present the pink badge to a family member or friend as a symbol of support.

This year, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, we are again honored to partner with Canopy to help those affected by this tragic disease.”
