HS Boys Basketball: Grand Oaks Basketball Tournament - Day 1

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Grand Oaks is hosting a 3-day boys basketball tournament at home with 16 other teams from around the area. The brackets are comprised of 4 pools in which teams play for Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Consolation place. These will then determine the winner in each bracket. Representing Pool A, the host team, Grand Oaks and in Pool D is College Park.

The first match of the day was Klein Oak vs College Park at 8 am in the morning. Even though it was an early game, College Park was able to defeat Klein Oak, 58-37. Martez James was the point leader with 15-points on the board.

In their second match up, College Park faced Klein Cain which proved to be a tougher match up. Klein Cain would cut through the College Park defense in the first quarter but was shut down shortly after. Klein Cain would keep a close distance as College Park managed to take the lead going into the half, 37-32.

In the second half Klein Can would close the gap with a push on offense. College Park’s defense would once again tighten up and pull away in the end. They would take their second win of the day 70-63 and hit day 2 of the tournament 2-0.

Grand Oaks would finish off the day with a matchup against Galena Park. As the match began it was evident that Grand Oaks would run the boards. Galena Park would fall to Grand Oaks 75-43 which gave Grand Oaks their second win of the day.
