THE WOODLANDS, TX – We’re officially more than halfway through January as of this moment, and the weather is showing signs of anything but settling into a rut. Between warmth and coolness, rain, and shine, it seems like all the seasons are trying to get crammed into one week.

A little bit of everything this week

The clouds, winds, and light rains of this morning gave way to mounting temps until we hit our high of 75. Now, we’re on a slightly lower temperature track as the rains go away but the clouds return and hang around, settling into an overnight low of about 60. The pressure will remain low and the cloud coverage high, and combined with a high dew point we’ll have an overnight with lots of clouds and a slight chance of continuing rain.

Tuesday will start off mostly cloudy; in the afternoon we’ll get some sun peeking through for a bit before the coverage returns to blanket the sky. The high humidity will help keep the temps warm, with the high ending up only one degree below 80. Even our low will be in the upper 60s, so if you want to feel any vestiges of the holiday season, you may want to find a Christmas movie or two to watch.

As Wednesday dawns, we’ll be under increasing chances of significant thunderstorms under completely cloud-covered skies with winds strong enough to make the rains diagonal. After lunchtime, the storms will finally go away and the winds will drop, leaving us with a damp aftermath. With the drop in rains comes a rise in pressure, and as a result we’ll get into an outright chilly low of 47.

Thursday will be a lot more seasonal, with mainly sunny skies and a high in the upper 60s. The steadily rising pressure will keep temperatures cooler, and that evening will experience another low in the 40s.

On Friday, we’ll see a major increase in cloud coverage once again in a condition that is best described as ‘the calm before the storm.’ We’ll enjoy another high in the mid 60s and another low in the 40s, but come Monday we may end up with a couple of days of very stormy weather…

Stay tuned on Friday as we bring you Woodlands Weekend Weather.
