THE WOODLANDS, TX – Welcome to the 80s – not the decadent decade of music and fashion, but that benchmark in the thermometer that reminds us we live in the Gulf Coast region of the Lone Star State. Winter is rapidly fading behind us, spring is nearly here, and summer is right around the corner. This week is a stark reminder.

Higher temps and climbing humidity make for some muggy weather this week

As Tuesday toddles along, we’ll enjoy life in the 70s for most of the day under partly cloudy skies; we’ll break into 80 later this afternoon for a bit, and then the degrees will settle in the upper 60s for a low.

Today and tomorrow will feature some gusty winds, but Wednesday will stand out due to some sporadic – and possible significant – thunderstorms throughout the day. Expect to see some “heat lightning” as our high will be well into the 80s. Around dinnertime, though, things will settle down; the thunderclouds will wane, the winds will die down, and rains will dry up, and we’ll be back in the mid 60s for a low.

Wednesday night into Thursday morning, however, the pressure will have hit rock bottom and start working its way back up, giving us a rest-of-the-week forecast of cloudy skies that will almost – but not quite – break back into the 80s for the highs. Both Thursday and Friday will see near-total cloud coverage, and chances are the rains won’t be quite done with us yet.

Expect this warm, gloomy weather to stick around for the first part of next week, but it looks like we’ll get some sunshine later on…

Stay tuned on Friday as we bring you Woodlands Weekend Weather.
