THE WOODLANDS, TX – Country music superstar – and former Woodlands/Conroe resident – Parker McCollum made a special appearance at the Raising Cane’s restaurant at 2127 W. Davis in Conroe.

Raising Cane’s in Conroe becomes the most popular eating spot in town

Hundreds of eager fans – some who had camped out as early as last night to be first in line – waited in a line that wrapped around the restaurant and parking lot. As they waited, several of the Raising Cane’s employees worked hard outside to ensure the attendees were safe and taken care of.

McCollum finally appeared from across the street and made his way along the line, greeting his fans outside, until he was finally able to make it indoors. Goodnaturedly for the throng of media present, he ordered – and paid for – a lunch and multitasked as he ate, signed some album covers, and answered questions.

Afterwards, staff gave him a tour of the restaurant, and then McCollum gamely strapped on a headset and – after a crash course – took several drive-through window orders from semi-suspecting drivers waiting in the line. Along with the meals, he also gave out dozens of pairs of tickets to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where he will be performing at the Opening Day ceremonies Tuesday evening.

McCollum, 31, was born and raised in Conroe. The music bug bit him early; in elementary school, he learned violin and played in the school orchestra, later learning guitar at age thirteen, when he also began writing his own music. By age sixteen he was playing gigs around the area even as he attended The Woodlands College Park High School. After he graduated from there, he moved to Austin.

He won Best New Male Artist of the Year at the 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards and the same year won Breakthrough Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards for his video “To Be Loved by You.”
