WILLIS, TX -- On Thursday, March 2, 2023, a Precinct 1 Deputy while conducting traffic enforcement on Interstate Highway 45 near Calvary Road in Willis observed a tan colored GMC pickup truck driving southbound. As the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, the driver quickly exited the highway and abandoned his vehicle at the Love’s Gas Station on Longstreet.

After waiting for the driver to return, additional units were requested to assist with the investigation. Precinct 1 K-9 “Zoe” was requested to assist with the investigation and was deployed around the vehicle. Immediately, Zoe gave a positive alert to the presence narcotics within the truck.

After gaining entry into the vehicle, a subsequent search revealed approximately 289 pounds of marijuana concealed in the bed of the vehicle within ten 55-gallon trash bags. The marijuana was vacuum-sealed in one-pound packages, separated, and marked for distribution. The estimated street value of this high-grade marijuana is approximately $928,000.

This is an ongoing investigation and the findings will be presented to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution and seizure of the vehicle. Constable Cash is pleased with the hard work and diligence of each Deputy involved with this investigation.
