Big Rivers Waterpark and Adventures Opens This Weekend

NEW CANEY, TX -- Adventure Weekends will kick off the 2023 Big Rivers Waterpark & Adventures season, beginning this weekend Saturday, March 18th. Adventure Weekends includes amusement park rides, lake activities including Wild Isle; aerial activities like ziplines, petting zoo and many more attractions.

Each weekend also includes cultural festivals with seasonal food options, live music and other entertainment. Monty Galland, CEO of Big Rivers exclaimed “There are so many things to do. We know guests are going to love the different experiences every weekend.”

This weekend, Big Rivers is excited to open with a St. Patrick’s Day theme. Holding to the belief that “Everyone is a little bit Irish on St. Patrick’s Day,” Green beer will be available along with a wide array of traditional Irish spirits and other beverages. Several dishes will be available, like shepherd’s pie and other Irish favorites.

To promote participation, every guest that wears a kilt will get free admission.

Festivities will feature the Cass-Barrington Dance Academy Celtic/Irish Dance Team as well as the Houston Highlanders Pipes & Drums. This will be the first time performing at the park for Cass-Barrington, while Houston Highlanders have been a past favorite. Local artist Joseph Rauma and his band will also be performing a wide selection of music including Top 40 hits, country classics and greatest hits.

With the new season, Big Rivers will be introducing new alligators, tortoises, snakes and other animals to the petting zoo. Wild Isle is an obstacle course on the lake that is one of their most popular attractions. Wild Isle, a collection of amusement park rides, the petting zoo, axe throwing, archery, the tallest outdoor climbing wall in Texas and a giant maze are just some of the attractions that are included with admission.
