THE WOODLANDS, TX – In the category of ‘better late than never,’ Heroes Lawn Care of The Woodlands took time to celebrate its grand opening earlier this month, even though it has been serving customers in the area since last year. “We wanted to mark the first day of spring in a special way,” explained Heroes owner Zac Lowder.

The celebration was held at Deacon Baldy's, a Woodlands-area family-friendly semi-outdoors venue located on FM 1488, and featured fun, games, and excellent food provided by El Bitute Peruvian Cuisine’s food truck for family, friends, existing clients, partners, community members, and area residents in general, even some four-legged friends.

“Attendees learned about Heroes services and company history, heard from their charity partners, and won prizes,” said Lowder, who is a proud Woodlands resident along with his wife and children.

Using top-of-the-line technology and eco-friendly materials, Heroes provides specialty lawn care services broken down into three service lines: Fertilizer Force, Irrigation Army, and Doody Duty.

Heroes’ Fertilizer Force provides personalized agronomic lawn assessments, drilling down on the exact needs of each homeowner’s yard and working to keep it healthy and green all season long. Under this service, clients benefit from fertilization applications of plant nutrients for optimal growth conditions. In addition, the company handles aeration, overseeding, soil amendment/topdressing, grub control, weed control, vegetation control, lawn disease control, and more.

Heroes’ Irrigation Army uses innovative technology to ensure homeowners never have to think about setting their lawn sprinklers again, while preserving water, and saving on their water bill. The company provides irrigation turn-on and a 35-point efficiency inspection, midseason checks, winterization of irrigation systems, irrigation repair and maintenance, backflow testing, sprinkler repairs, system and controller upgrades, and more.

Heroes’ Doody Duty aims to provide eco-conscious lawn conservation services via pet waste removal which can be scheduled at whatever frequency suits clients (2x/week, weekly, bi-weekly, etc.). Pet waste carries millions of germs like bacteria and parasites, and leaving it unattended can contaminate waterways and be very harmful to the environment. Heroes wants to assist homeowners in preventing brown spots, dead grass, unwanted land mines and smells, while simultaneously improving waterways and preventing environmental pollution.

As a mission-driven business, Heroes gives a portion of its profits to support Patriots of Texas, a local 501(c)3 organization that – according to its mission statement – strives “to offer ‘boots on the ground’ assistance to military persons and first responders and working to create solutions to common transitional and situational issues for community heroes.”

Heroes of The Woodlands also donates their services and time as a volunteer for Project EverGreen’s GreenCare for Troops initiative. The program provides free lawn care and landscape services to military families with a loved one who is deployed.

“We look up to the many heroes in our community who have served, whether in military service, law enforcement, rescue or other roles. Using our business to give back to them is just a small way of saying ‘thank you,’” said Lowder. As part of his commitment to community, Heroes offers a discount for active duty military, veterans, and first responders.

To complement its Doody Duty service, Heroes also supports Camo Rescue, a local non-profit animal rescue who saves more than a thousand dogs per year from high-kill shelters and from being loose on the streets.

“Helping maintain yards where kids and pets can safely play and adults can relax, is more than just for curb appeal,” said Lowder. “Thriving lawns, trees and plants not only help the environment but also promote mental and physical wellness and can have a protective effect on the mental well-being of military families.”
