2023 Building Hope Gala Raises Funds for Safe Homes

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County, TX (Habitat MCTX) hosted the annual Building Hope Gala, presented by LGI Homes, at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel on Saturday, April 1st. The event honored the Chimenti family and The Woodlands Methodist Church for their contributions to the organization. Co-chaired by Jill Krueger and Sonya Nicholson, the gala titled “May Every Journey Lead You Home” celebrated the empowerment that having a safe place you can call home can provide. The fundraiser successfully raised over $780,000 in support of Habitat Montgomery County’s mission of bringing people together to build homes, community, and hope.

The program featured an inspiring speech by Shelbie Estrada, a future Habitat homeowner, who shared her experience of going through the homeownership process with her son, Jayden. Shelbie highlighted how the Habitat homeownership program provides stability and independence to families in need.

“All the financial donations to Habitat tonight are so appreciated and needed, but you will also be donating hope, donating stability, and donating happiness to families”, said Shelbie. “You are truly bringing positive changes to the futures of all of us who own homes thanks to Habitat for Humanity. Home ownership would not be possible for many families without you and your support. Thank you for making this possible for Jayden and me.”
