MAGNOLIA, TX -- Recently, Commissioner Charlie Riley had the honor of experiencing a flight onboard the historic Douglas C- 47 Skytrain, the famous paratroop transport, “That’s All Brother”. The event was a part of the Living History Experience Flight held by the Commemorative Air Force Gulf Coast Wing VIP Media Day at the Conroe-North Houston Regional Airport..

“That’s All Brother”, which was a message to Hitler to let him know his days were numbered, was the FIRST transport airplane that led the D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944. The plane preceded the formation of 800 other planes who all crossed the English Channel on that fateful day, to send 13,000 paratroopers from the 82nd and the 101st Airborne into occupied France.

Richard B. Pecore, Loadmaster of the CAF Gulf Coast Wing, stopped by the offices today and presented this framed picture of the aircraft along with a commemorative hat as a show of appreciation. The hat displays details that represent the allied forces, the paratrooper divisions that were on board, the name of the plane, the stripes that were also on the tail of the plane as well as the historic date.

“This is altogether so meaningful for me. I love history and to have this connection by way of the flight experience on the plane that is a symbol of achievement for our country and the veterans who served to protect the world against the evil of tyranny, thank you for your service and thank you for this striking display. Together with the hat, it will hang in a place of reverence,” stated Commissioner Charlie Riley.
