CONROE, TX -- Jazz enthusiasts can groove to the sound of local artists at Grand Central Park during Jazz Fest, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 29, at The Lake House, 1039 Lake House Drive.

Boomtown Band, Raquel Cepeda and Bayou City Funk will take the stage during the free festival which also features food trucks, a balloon artist, face painters and more. The first 100 families to attend will receive a free picnic blanket.

“Jazz Fest offers something for everyone,” said Amanda Burke, Director of Marketing for Grand Central Park, “live music, great food and so much fun. We love showcasing the talent of local musicians. It’s also a wonderful opportunity to get a taste of the amazing Grand Central Park lifestyle.”

Boomtown Brass Band will bring authentic 1920s hot jazz to the community at 1 p.m. The classic New Orleans jazz style also mixes in Chicago’s “Dixieland,” early 1930s “gypsy jazz” guitar and a touch of New Orleans second line. The band will lead guests in a second line parade at 2:30 p.m.

Raquel Cepeda has shared the stage with jazz legends Ellis and Delfeayo Marsalis. Her album “Passion” was nominated for “Best Jazz Album” at the 2020 Pepsi Music Awards and remained in the No. 1 position on the Roots Music Report Jazz chart for eight consecutive weeks. She will perform at 1:30 p.m.

Bayou City Funk takes the stage at 3 p.m. playing a mix of funk, soul, blues and jazz fusion music. The band is known for its tight three-piece horn section.

Some of the Houston-area’s top food trucks will be on hand, including Culinary Cognition, Come & Taste It, Conroe Party Connections and Frios Pops. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets.

Guests will also have an opportunity to tour Grand Central Park’s 9 model homes.
