THE WOODLANDS, TX - The annual Woodforest Bank TRI triathlon event will be taking place this Saturday. While Woodlands area commuters might be steeling their nerves for another Township-wide road shutdown, they can rest assured that the scale of this event is much more manageable.

Unlike the approximately 3,000 racers who participated in the recent IRONMAN competition, a mere 800 racers will be competing here, and instead of a bike ride that literally shuts down the Hardy Toll Road and includes a 26-mile marathon, this TRI's events include smaller-scale 500-meter open swim, a 12.8-mile bike ride, and a 5K (3.1-mile) run. The race starts and finishes at Northshore Park. All this racks up as good news with less traffic and earlier road re-openings.

Here is a list of the road closures; commuters should be aware that law enforcement will be at each turn to conduct rolling shutdowns and re-openings, and the event should be completely done by noon.

Inside Lanes

The inside lane of Lake Woodlands Drive – Eastbound from Cochran's Crossing to Windward Covet will be closed to automobile traffic from 6 to 10:30 a.m. to accommodate racers:

Outside Lanes

The outside lane of the following streets will be impacted by the race course between 6 to 10:30 a.m. to accommodate racers:

• Research Forest Drive - Eastbound from Gosling Road to Grogan's Mill
• Grogan's Mill Road - Southbound from Research Forest to Woodlands Parkway
• Woodlands Parkway - Westbound to Cochran's Crossing
• Cochran's Crossing Drive - Northbound to Lake Woodlands
