MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- The Montgomery County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management would like to announce that Montgomery County’s Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan will be available for public review and comment from May 5, 2023 – May 19, 2023.

The H-GAC Region which includes Montgomery County, is vulnerable to a wide range of natural hazards such as: flooding, tornadoes, tropical storms and hurricanes. In an effort to reduce the nations mounting natural disaster losses, the United States Congress passed The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000. This act requires state and local governments to develop and adopt a Hazard Mitigation Plan to be eligible for certain pre-disaster and post-disaster funding from the Federal Government. This plan is updated every five years to ensure planning standards and best mitigation practices are met.
