THE WOODLANDS, TX – Today is the start of Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month and Alzheimer’s Association is kicking it off in a big way with a very special Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month Million Dollar Triple Match. That means any gift you make by June 30 can go three times as far in their work to fight this devastating disease and help achieve their vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.

Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month is an opportunity to share knowledge about Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. It’s a chance to show support for the millions around the world who are living with this fatal disease. The more people know about Alzheimer’s, the more action they inspire.

The JTMF Foundation has pledged an amazing $1 million to the Alzheimer’s Association and is giving people the chance to make three times the impact. In honor of loved ones they’ve lost to Alzheimer’s, the trustees of the foundation have chosen to have their gift support research to unlock the mysteries of this disease and move us closer to a cure.

“We’re at a turning point in the fight against Alzheimer’s,” said the association in a statement. “For the first time ever, we have two FDA-approved treatments for people in the early stages of the disease that target the underlying causes of this disease, not just the symptoms. Treatments taken in the early stages of Alzheimer’s could mean a better quality of life: more time with loved ones, to remain independent and make future health care decisions.”

The statement continues, “However, a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) policy is severely limiting coverage of these treatments. Each day CMS continues to block access, more than 2,000 people living with Alzheimer’s transition to a more advanced stage of the disease where they are no longer eligible for the existing treatments. This decision must be reversed. With your help, we can make change.”

For those wishing to donate to the 3X Match initiative or at any other time, Alzheimer’s Association is easy to contact. Its free 24/7 Helpline (800-272-3900) provides round-the-clock support, resources and information, while the website, alz.org, guides caregivers to educational programs and care resources — not to mention the latest updates on promising research.
