THE WOODLANDS, TX – Dosey Doe - The Big Barn has been a Woodlands area institution and destination for world-class music since it opened its doors in 2006. Owner Steve Said has worked hard over the decades to ensure the former Kentucky barn (literally moved log by log to its current location on the Interstate 45 feeder road between Woodlands Parkway and Sawdust) is synonymous with music in Texas. Today marks a new, exciting chapter in Said’s and the Barn’s lives.

The Country Music Association of Texas Awards Show happening Oct. 18

Dosey Doe is officially the new home of the Country Music Association of Texas. Established in 1975, the CMA of Texas supports and promotes independent Texas artists, showcased by an annual awards show. This year on October 18,the Country Music Association of Texas Awards Show will take place at The Big Barn.

The CMA of Texas began back in 1975 when James White (owner of the Broken Spoke in Austin, TX) and his friend and radio personality, Bud Fisher, began to hold recognition events at the Broken Spoke. In 2013, it took on official status with the State of Texas as a nonprofit organization, expanding its reach to be a support tool of the independent artist who deserves recognition and encouragement to continue his/her artistic endeavor.

The CMA of Texas is all about recognizing great Texas independent musicians, songwriters, instrumentalists, DJs, radio stations (traditional and digital), radio programmers, film and TV personalities, venues, and those individuals devoted to the growth and preservation of Texas Americana, Western Swing, Cowboy Western and Texas country music.
