Motel 6 Apartment Fire Update

HOUSTON, TX -- The American Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast Region was called last night to assist the residents of a Motel 6 fire located at 2900 W Sam Houston Pkwy S, Houston, Texas, 77042. When we arrived we learned that there where a lot of residents without a place to stay and we immediately jumped into action and opened up a shelter. We did not have anyone stay at the shelter overnight but we did have several people walk in today who we were able to assist. As of right now we have assisted 11 families who were long term residents of the motel. The motel manager has assisted 36 other families who were not long term residents by reimbursing them for their stay.
