THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Gauntt Koen Binney & Kidd, LLP was founded in 1998 by partner Chad Gauntt who began his career in one of the largest law firms in the country. His goal was to channel his experience and energy into a small firm environment, avoiding the conflicts and overhead inherent in large firms. Mr. Gauntt typically represents insurance companies in first-party insurance matters. Chad’s practice areas also include third-party insurance defense litigation, personal injury litigation, commercial litigation, consumer protection, medical malpractice, and aviation accidents.

Managing partner Geoff Binney joined Mr. Gauntt in 2004 and represents both plaintiffs and defendants and covers a wide variety of commercial and personal injury litigation matters, including contract disputes, Qui Tam lawsuits, auto/trucking accidents, products liability, medical malpractice, catastrophic construction and employment-related accidents, premises liability, wrongful death, and litigation stemming from the purchase/sale of residential properties.

Scott Kidd joined the firm in 2011 and represents both individuals and businesses in all types of litigation matters including auto/trucking accidents, workplace accidents, defective products, premises liability, construction, and wrongful death. He also provides representation in insurance, business, and real estate related matters. Throughout his career, Scott has also been an advocate for children serving as a guardian ad litem for minors and as corporate counsel for one of the state’s largest foster care/adoption agencies.

Karl Koen leads GKBK’s Dallas office and has earned a reputation for strong trial advocacy. Representing businesses in the oil and gas, trucking and construction industries, he has built a record of success in very complex and high-profile cases. He has successfully litigated and tried numerous lawsuits defending his clients in multi-million dollar claims in both state and federal court throughout the state of Texas. He has been with the firm since 2013.

The other partners in the firm are very strong leaders and understand what the clients want and need, how well those wants and needs are currently met, and what can be done to improve the experience. They do an amazing job leading the associate attorneys in order to ensure all needs are being met for the client. The support staff is flexible, willing to change and can adapt to different roles.
