Commissioners Court has adopted a Burn Ban for all of Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- Montgomery County Commissioner’s Court has adopted a County Burn Ban effective today for all unincorporated parts of Montgomery County. Outdoor burning in municipalities is regulated by local ordinances and residents should contact their local city hall for guidance.
Under state law, any Law Enforcement Officer may issue a Class C citation for violation of a burn ban. Violators face fines of up to $500 per each occurrence and may face additional penalties if the burning violates state air quality regulations or causes injuries or property damage.
Residents are urged to comply with the burn ban and business owners are reminded that burning is prohibited at all times on commercial property. The burning of land clearing debris is also prohibited at all times in Montgomery County unless it is done in accordance with state air quality regulations utilizing air curtain incinerators permitted through the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. (TCEQ)
Residents are asked not to call 911 to complain about outdoor burning unless it is an emergency. For more information or to file a complaint, go to mctx.org/fire and click on “Outdoor Burning”.
