The Woodlands Township to host Labor Day Celebration on Sunday, September 3, 2023

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- The Woodlands Township invites residents to celebrate Labor Day weekend on Sunday, September 3, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Waterway Square, 31 Waterway Square Place. This free event offers live music, children’s activities, strolling entertainment and pie-eating contests. There will be no fireworks this year due to the drought conditions and elevated risk for fires.

Township Director of Parks and Recreation John McGowan stated, “As a result of the burn ban adopted by the Commissioners Court on August 1 for Montgomery County, fireworks for the Labor Day Weekend in The Woodlands event have been cancelled. This determination was made from an abundance of caution due to the recent drought conditions and elevated risk for fires.”

The remainder of the Labor Day event activities will continue as planned on Sunday, September 3, 2023, now taking place from 5 to 8 p.m. at Waterway Square. The modified version of the event will include live music by Level One Band (Motown/Funk), free craft activities while supplies last, complimentary face painting and balloon art.

Pie-eating contests, sponsored by House of Pies, will be open to both youth and adults. Those interested will be able to sign up for the eating contests onsite, but space is very limited. Early arrival is highly encouraged to ensure a spot in the contests.

A beverage booth will be available to purchase a variety of beverages. Attendees are encouraged to patronize local restaurants before or after the event. Coolers, picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs are permitted. Please note, glass is prohibited.
