The Woodlands Township dismissed from lawsuit

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On August 2, 2023, The Woodlands Township was named as a defendant in Woodlands Pride, Inc. et. al. v. Angela Colmenero, in official capacity as Interim Attorney General of Texas, et. al., in the United States District Court – Southern District of Texas. Upon notice of this lawsuit, the Board and staff of The Woodlands Township, under the guidance of legal counsel, reviewed thoroughly the claims in the lawsuit, the applicable law and legal standing of The Woodlands Township and the matters referenced in the lawsuit. In response, legal counsel for The Township filed with the Court an opposition to Plaintiff’s Motion for TRO and Preliminary Injunction along with a Motion to Dismiss for Lack of Subject-Matter Jurisdiction or, Alternatively, for Failure to State a Claim with regard to The Woodlands Township. Shortly thereafter the Plaintiff’s attorneys and counsel for The Woodlands Township were able to jointly agree to the dismissal of The Woodlands Township from the lawsuit with no further consideration or action being delivered on the part of The Woodlands Township. The Judge in the case signed an order dismissing The Woodlands Township on August 25, 2023.

The Woodlands Township and its Board take very seriously their commitment to the residents and taxpayers of The Woodlands in providing services and amenities throughout The Woodlands. We are proud of our long history of doing so in a manner that reflects the needs and the values of our community and are pleased that the Plaintiff’s agreed to the dismissal of the lawsuit in relation to The Woodlands Township.
