MAGNOLIA, TX -- Bourbon Brothers BBQ, home of slow-smoked barbecue with scratch-made sides and desserts, is bringing craft Texas barbecue to Magnolia.

Located behind Magnolia High School at The Wilderness Campground & Community (14320 FM 1488 Magnolia, TX 77354), Bourbon Brothers BBQ is open Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hours are subject to change based on food availability.

“There’s nothing quite like barbecue that brings us Texans together,” said Bourbon Brothers BBQ owner and pitmaster Matt Keyser. “We’re thrilled to call The Wilderness Campgrounds & Community home. We’re ready to serve the fine folks of Magnolia and Montgomery County authentic Texas-style barbecue.”

Keyser, a recovering Houston journalist who grew up on the shores of Lake Conroe, is partnering with executive chef Lotis Butchko and pitmaster Caleb Johnson to bring an eclectic menu of barbecue, scratch-made sides, housemade sausages, and a limited offering of Gulf coast seafood-inspired dishes.

Keyser and Johnson will run the pits, offering a variety of smoked meats true to Texas barbecue: brisket, savory pulled pork, moist turkey breast, and seasonal handcrafted sausages.

The housemade links include a crawfish boil sausage that is stuffed with crawfish tails provided by Magnolia’s own Kaleb’s Krawfish & Seafood, corn, potatoes, and Cajun seasonings. The black and bleu sausage is stuffed with ground brisket, crispy housemade bacon, bleu cheese crumbles, and caramelized onions. Bourbon Brothers BBQ also features a jalapeño cheddar sausage that oozes with cheese while carrying a subtle spice, among other seasonal offerings.

Butchko is bringing his years of culinary experience to run the kitchen, focusing on scratch-made sides and desserts, which range from creamy mac and cheese, campfire beans with ingredients that cowboys and cowgirls would find on the open range, and a southwestern-inspired coleslaw.

Butchko, who has cooked alongside greats Wolfgang Puck and Cat Cora, brings his passion for the Gulf Coast with a limited menu that features an array of crawfish, crab, and other seafood-inspired dishes.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think our barbecue would reach so many,” Keyser said. “And with our new home here in Magnolia, we get to continue living our dream.”
