THE WOODLANDS, TX – Academy Award winner and clean energy advocate Louis Gossett, Jr., will be a celebrity judge of the Climate Champions Youth Art Contest – Texas Edition, which commences Friday, September 22 for students in grades 1-12 in The Woodlands / Spring area. The free educational contest aims to provide students a unique opportunity to have a voice in helping to safeguard the Earth through the power of art.
“We must be the caretakers of our planet and protect it for our children, and I can think of no better way for young people to learn about our climate challenges and imagine solutions to it than through art,” said Gossett, who has had a 60-year career in film, receiving a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for An Officer and a Gentleman and an Emmy for his role in Roots. He most recently had a leading role in the highly-acclaimed HBO series Watchmen.
Starting on September 22, students in The Woodlands, Conroe, and Spring areas (including home schoolers) can submit their original artwork by taking a picture of it with their phones or scanning it, and uploading the file in a submission form on the contest site.
