THE WOODLANDS, TX – Officially we’re in autumn, but the summer heat isn’t quite finished. Nearly, but not quite. It looks like we have one last weekend of temps in the 90s before the month of Columbus Day, International Coffee Week, and Halloween finally takes hold with seasonal weather.

Summer is wheezing out one final hot weekend

We awoke to a humid morning today, which means our high of 96 will feel closer to 99 even though it’ll get drier throughout the day. It will basically be a cloudless sky, but some moderate winds will help cool the brow. For some indoor/outdoor excitement, head to The John Cooper School at 5:30 for their Athletic Preview followed by their homecoming game. As the sun sets around 6:40, the temps will be bearable and nice for outdoor fun as the overnight low reaches down to 73.

On Saturday, it’s going to be one last shot for outdoor fun in the 90s, with blazing skies and winds kicking up to at least 10 mph. It’ll be less humid, so stay hydrated and wear sunblock for sure. The temps will drop as the sun sets, perfect timing for you to hit Rob Fleming Park to catch the free performance of The Taming of the Shrew at Arts in the Park - Shakespeare in the Park. We’ll actually get very close to getting into the 60s for our overnight low.

Sunday will break with a lot more clouds in the sky and mounting winds as the day progresses. Our high of 96 will not have an extra heat index, so due to the dry air you may want to add lip balm to your health repertoire. The winds will kick in again, so this could be some great kite-flying weather on top of enjoying a lazy Sunday outdoors. Enjoy the evening by hitting Dosey Doe - The Big Barn for the Love Heals Youth ‘Concert of Love’ concert.

As next week progresses, watch for a sudden turnaround as some thunderstorms move in and the temperatures drop at least ten degrees…

Stay tuned for weather updates from Woodlands Online, and be sure to check us out on Monday for our “Week Ahead” forecast.
