THE WOODLANDS, TX – At long last, we’re out of the triple digits and – barring a freak heat wave or apocalyptic solar flare activity – the hundreds won’t return for at least the length of a human gestation period. In fact, the weather is going the other way, and we’ll actually be experiencing some chilly nights that might require dusting off the furnace.

Believe it or not, it’s jacket and heater weather this weekend

The rains of the past couple of days are now a memory, but the wetness rejuvenated our lawns and knocked some of that seasonal airborne pollen out of the air. Throughout the rest of the day, your Friday will get progressively cloudier. By sundown, there will barely be any blue left up above, replaced with whites and greys. They dropping humidity and dew point will keep our high of 86 manageable without an added heat index. It’s perfect weather to paintball-hunt the walking dead, so book your spot for the Warrior Guard Zombie Run, happening all weekend. We’ll rapidly drop into the 70s along with the setting of the sun, and as you slumber the low will actually settle at around 61.

Saturday will spend itself cool and cloudy all day, with a cold front and high winds keeping the high in the mid 70s. A complete lack of rain will make it perfect outdoors weather. As afternoon melds into night, the temps will rapidly get down into the 60s as the clouds finally wander away – the lack of misty blanketing will get the overnight low down into the – hold onto your hats, folks – low 50s. Celebrate by heading to the west side of The Woodlands for the Howard Hughes Creekside Park West Fall Festival.

The coolness will hang around on Sunday. The winds will get back to their normal caress and the mostly sunny skies will do wonders for peoples’ moods and activity levels. It will be close to lunchtime before we even get into the 70s for our high. It’s National Night Out today, so check out where the parties will be in your area so that you can meet your neighbors and the other people who keep us safe. Be prepared for another night in the 50s, so take the opportunity while you can to air out the blankets.

While the work week may start off warmer and brighter, you may want to hold off on washing your cars or watering your outdoor plants for a bit, as there just might be some more heavy raining coming up…

Stay tuned for weather updates from Woodlands Online, and be sure to check us out on Monday for our “Week Ahead” forecast.
