THE WOODLANDS, TX – PGA Tour and Olympic Coach Kevin Kirk will serve as one of the celebrity judges for the Climate Champions Youth Art Contest, open to all students in grades 1 to 12 in The Woodlands and surrounding areas. The free competition will feature cash prizes, celebrity judges, a display of winning artwork, and an awards ceremony at the George H. W. Bush Community Center.

Kirk has been recognized as one of the top golf coaches in the world as the recipient of the PGA Teacher of the Year Award. Kirk is a clean energy advocate who is passionate about the outdoors and the health of the planet. He is currently the Director of Golf Instruction at The Woodlands Country Club

“For ages, art has been a medium for change in society. Change starts with awareness, imagination, and the courage to act, sometimes in the face of resistance,” Kirk said. “I am deeply honored to be a part of the panel of judges for Climate Champions. I know it will foster a level of awareness and have a positive impact on everyone it touches.”

The competition encourages young people to use their imaginations to illustrate their concerns and solutions for climate change through the power of art. Students – including homeschoolers – can submit their original artwork at no cost by taking a picture of it with their phones or scanning it, and uploading the file in a submission form on the contest site. The contest deadline is November 1.

Winners in each grade category will receive prizes, including Visa Gift Card cash prizes, t-shirts, and certificates. The contest is produced by Climate Canaries, a local youth climate awareness organization.
