THE WOODLANDS, TX – Though some may be grumbling that Halloween takes place midweek, curtailing many late-night plans for the holiday, it’s a good thing because next week plans to be cold and dry. This is in direct contrast to this weekend, however, which will be decidedly warm and wet.

It’s (probably) the last weekend of the 80s for the year

A high humidity and high dew point, mixed with significant cloud cover and a low pressure system, will get our high up to 85 with another seven degrees tacked on to the heat index. The clouds will hang around all day and all night, forming a misty blanket to trap the warmth down here with us. You might even be inspired to keep the house AC running tonight as our overnight low will only get down to 72 and even then in the early morning.

Saturday is chock full of Halloween-style and fall activities, and fortunately the weather will play a bit nicer so that you can enjoy the outdoor ones. Southeasterly winds around 10 mph will help cool the temps that will reach all the way up to 97, and the continuing humidity will make it feel like all the way in the low 90s. There is the slightest chance of rain all day even through the partly cloudy skies, but nothing to dampen the spirits.

Saturday night will see a dip in the cloud coverage, helping drop the low down to 70, but all night long there is a chance some of those clouds will have some rain to dump from them. We’ll start Sunday morning warm and dry enough, but soon enough in the day the impending cold front will hit. Our high temperature of 86 will be a distant memory within a few hours of lunchtime as the thermometer plummets down through the 70s and 60s and – by midnight – even into the 50s before settling for an overnight low of 47. Afternoon, evening, and overnight thunderstorms will tag along.

As Monday looms, expect the temps to stay in the 30s - 50s range for a while as November finally hits us…
